Winter Excitement
In the hush of the evening, winter shows her might
To our feel, taste and to our mortal sight
Here the earth shivers under the chill weather
When snow fills the mountains, valleys and the river
The crickets hibernate and owls never hoot at night
While the moon dreams amid the stars' misty light
The empty roads give way to ghosts to jog
While tall buildings brood under the veil of fog
The sun rises late, and the day gets up with bleary eyes
And shyly hides his ashen face under the misty guise
The wind blows its horn over the cold leaden leas
While children decorate snowmen under leafless trees
But days shine and go agog when Santa arrives
And reaches to children with many sweets and prize
Then Christmas comes and new guests meet
Who carol together as soon they gleefully greet
Again with much fun and frolic they celebrate New Year
And give up laze amid picnics and parties daring the Winter.
